Mechanics of Time Machine & World’s First Truman

I believe that at some point in future, there will be some version of time machine. May be not the time bending, parallel universe creating machines. But a simple YouTube Time Machine, where you can go enter the latitude, longitude, date and you get to see the video in that location and at that time.

May be we won’t be able to go back to the time of Jesus Christ and Krishna and check their content. But from a certain time, say 2048 AD onwards. The idea is by that time, there are these floating nano cameras collecting all the audio and visuals and creating 3d maps which can be experienced with VR Headsets.

Now comes the question of privacy. If this is allowed, then there is no privacy for anyone. How would one’s thinking process change when you are born into a world, where you know that everything is recorded and there is no concept of privacy whatsoever? That’s a question for a different blog.

Now before loss of privacy for every new born being on the planet. There would be stages. Let’s say the technological capability is there, there are nano cameras that can fly around all the time that are not even visible to you. Would you opt in to make your life public to everyone in the world? Every conversation, Every sexual encounter is viewable. For the sake of discussion, let’s assume public cannot access your passwords and tamper with your accounts.

This very much is like Truman show. Any reality show like keeping up with Kardashians or bigg boss, here the cameras are limited and the content is also curated. But for our Truman, the 3d life is out there on the Internet for people to go to any time, view from any angle. May be you can curate the content and make movies on that as well as a film maker.

Now forget full scale 3d life Truman. How about a Digital Truman. All of my tweets are open for public to consume. What are very personal digital things

  • Communication on WhatsApp
  • Browser History

What if Meta or Alphabet provides a simple switch to make my communications open for public to consume or my browser history.

Who will be that first Truman/Kardashian to do that?
